A CDN, or Content Delivery Network, is a system of distributed servers intended to enhance the delivery of web content and media to the client. These servers are located in some parts of the world and since data must move around less before reaching the users, such access is faster.
In its simplest form, CDN involves caching and storing of static content such as images, videos, CSS files, and javascript files at several distinct servers referred to as edge servers located all over the world. CDN works in such a way that whenever a user visits a site, the CDN takes the user to the server nearest to the physical location of the user so that the content can be shared faster.
